This is the 26th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Quite possibly the easiest food drive to be a part of is happening Saturday May 12 nationwide. On Saturday May 12, place your bagged food donation by your mailbox and your local letter carrier will pick it up while they are on their Saturday mail route. They will bring your food donation to Feeding the Gulf Coast - your local food bank, or a local food pantry. Last year this food drive brought in over 150,000 pounds of food to Feeding the Gulf Coast - let’s make it even bigger this year! The food from Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is placed in reserve for our Disaster Relief Program in preparation for hurricane season. In the 18 months following Hurricane Katrina, Feeding the Gulf Coast distributed more than 20 million pounds of food to local hurricane victims. If disaster relief is not needed this summer, the food from this drive will be distributed in our holiday food box distribution.
